The British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) is a charitable trust run from the Outreach Office of the Department of Physics at the University of Oxford. It holds some fifteen competitions a year in two strands: physics, and astronomy under the name BAAO. The physics strand is a ladder by UK school year. The Challenges (JPC in Year 10, IPC in Year 11, SPC in Year 12) are competitions in their own right. The Olympiad proper begins with Round 0 in October, a multiple-choice qualifier; Round 1 in November is a two-hour paper in two sections; Round 2 in January chooses the students for the Oxford training camp at Easter, and the UK team for the International Physics Olympiad is picked there.
