What it is它是什么
The British Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad was launched within the BPhO trust in 2015. It is the UK’s gateway to the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). It is aimed at Years 12 and 13, though GCSE students may attempt it, and it is syllabus-independent: no astronomy course is assumed, the questions are core physics applied to the wider universe, and extra details are given in the questions. In the words of the official Round 0 page, the UK astronomy team is “a team of physicists rather than experienced or accomplished astronomers”.
英国天文与天体物理奥赛（BAAO）于 2015 年在 BPhO 信托内设立，是英国通往国际天文与天体物理奥赛（IOAA）的入口。它面向 12、13 年级，GCSE 阶段的学生也可以尝试；它不依赖任何大纲：不要求学过天文课程，题目是把基础物理用到更广阔的宇宙上，额外需要的信息会在题中给出。用官方 Round 0 页面的话说，英国天文队是“一支由物理学生组成、而非资深天文爱好者组成的队伍”。

How it connects to the physics olympiad与物理奥赛的关系
The two strands share a calendar and a camp. Students take at least one of BPhO Round 1 in November and BAAO Round 1 in December; the top students from either are invited to BAAO Round 2. A student who misses Round 0 can still reach the IOAA route through BAAO Round 1. The physics and astro streams meet at the Oxford camp in April.

The official advice is to attempt at least two or three past papers and then read the solutions, which the BAAO publishes online. The bank lets you check your final answers first.
