This archive is an independent restructuring of the public record published at yau-awards.com, the official site of the S.T. Yau High School Science Award (丘成桐中学科学奖). The official site arranges its content as a chronological stream of announcements — useful for current-cohort news but unsuited to the longer question, "what has this competition produced over the years?" We built this archive to answer that question.

The award is given annually to high-school researchers across six subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and economic & financial modeling. A single Grand Prize sits above the per-subject awards. The competition has run since 2008; this archive covers 2020–2025, with the 2024 and 2025 cohorts being the most recent.

Sources数据来源

The dataset is built from the awards site's own announcement pages, parsed and normalized by a Python scraper (yau-awards/scraper.py) that follows the public listing of show-86-N.html pages and extracts the per-year laureate lists. The output is a flat CSV (winners_index.csv) and a per-year markdown digest under winners/YYYY/README.md, which is what this site reads from.

数据集取自赛事官网自身的公告页面，由一段 Python 爬虫（yau-awards/scraper.py）解析并规范化：它沿着公开的 show-86-N.html 页面列表，逐年提取获奖者名单。输出为一份扁平 CSV（winners_index.csv）以及位于 winners/YYYY/README.md 的逐年 Markdown 摘要，本站正是据此读取数据。

The papers themselves are not re-hosted here. Every "Read paper" link points at the PDF on the organiser's own server, so the copy you open is always theirs and always current; copyright in these papers belongs to the students who wrote them. The local archive does keep a downloaded pool (pdfs/, hardlinked back into each year folder) — that is working material for the statistics on this site, not something this site redistributes. The local-file-to-official-URL mapping is rebuilt by yau-awards/build_pdf_urls.py. Where the official site published only an abstract or never made the paper public, the winner entry still appears with its full credit line and a PDF not archived note.

The whitepaper白皮书

The whitepaper bundled with this archive, 丘成桐中学生科学奖白皮书, is an open-access book originally written by Tian-2 and Joy of Thinker Education. This edition extends the original to cover the 2023–2025 cohorts: new Grand Prize papers, new subject leaders, and notes on how research themes have shifted over the past three years. The book lives in 丘成桐中学生科学奖白皮书/ as both LaTeX source and a compiled PDF.

Candidate topics选题方案

The Topics section carries 160 scoped candidate research proposals for the 2027 season, across all six tracks. They are written against a deliberately constrained profile — an ordinary key-school student, a CPU-only laptop, no university lab, public data only — because that is where most student projects actually fail: not on the idea, but on compute, data access, equipment budget, or a paper someone published three years ago. Each proposal therefore carries a methodology-validation gate as its first acceptance criterion, an explicit novelty boundary naming the prior work it does not claim, and a dated go/no-go threshold with a named degrade path. The competition facts they rely on come from the same official announcements as the rest of this archive, and the historical winner list is used only as a comparison baseline — never counted as the student's own contribution.

Design设计

The visual language is the Tian2 Design System — a warm cream/ink editorial palette with a single coral accent, New Yorker-influenced typography (Playfair Display for English display, Noto Serif SC for Chinese display, Inter for English body, Noto Sans SC for Chinese body, and Bebas Neue for labels), and retro flat illustrations drawn in a 2.5px black single-line stroke. The spot illustrations on this site — a stack of books, a kettle, a lamp, a pencil, a leaf, and a window — are from the Tian2 illustration library.

视觉语言采用 Tian2 设计系统——温润的米白与墨黑编辑配色，辅以单一的珊瑚红点缀；字体取法《纽约客》（英文标题用 Playfair Display，中文标题用 Noto Serif SC，英文正文用 Inter，中文正文用 Noto Sans SC，标签用 Bebas Neue）；插画为复古扁平风格，以 2.5px 黑色单线勾勒。本站的小幅插画——一摞书、一只水壶、一盏台灯、一支铅笔、一片叶子和一扇窗——皆出自 Tian2 插画库。

The system is intentionally print-feel: no gradients, no shadows, no glassmorphism, no large border-radii. Cards are bounded by a 2.5px ink stroke and a flat color block — depth comes from negative space, not from elevation tricks. One accent color per page; here, that color is coral.

整套系统刻意追求印刷质感：不用渐变、不用阴影、不用玻璃拟态、不用大圆角。卡片以 2.5px 墨线和一块平涂色块界定——层次来自留白，而非投影把戏。每页只用一种点缀色；在这里，那是珊瑚红。
